7 Reasons Why You Must Always Build Your List - Starting NOW!

Whether you are just starting an online business, or you've been running an online business for a significant amount of time, you've probably heard about a million times that "The money is in the list."

Well, there's a good reason for that. It's because the money IS honestly, truthfully, in the list. More specifically (and more accurately), the money is in a targeted list of buyers.

Even though you might be sick of hearing about the money being "in the list", it is so important to the profit, growth and survival of your business, that I'm going to highlight just a few of the many reasons why you should absolutely, positively, build your list EVERY DAY, starting right now.

Again, there are many reasons why you should build your list every day, starting right now. I'm just listing a few.

By the way, these aren't listed in any particular order of importance. So don't worry about that. Just know that each and every one of these reasons is important to you and the growth of your business. Okay, here we go...

Among many other wonderful things, building your own list of buyers will allow you to:

1. Create a solid foundation for your business.

There is nothing more important to your business than having your own list of customers that you can reach out to again and again with offerings for your products and/or services.

When you have your own, and I stress, YOUR OWN list of targeted customers, you basically have a built-in source of income. True, you must continuously build your list, but you are not constantly in search of that next “warm body” to sell something to.

You have a chance to build a rapport and relationship with the people on your list. They get to “know” you, trust you, depend on you. As a result, they are much more likely to spend their money with you than with someone they don’t “know” (like your competition).

2. Position yourself as the expert.

When you have your own list and the ability to communicate with the people on that list on a regular basis (i.e. through an autoresponder), you have the opportunity to influence their thoughts, actions, ways of doing business, people with whom they do business, etc. You have the chance to “show your stuff”.

You can show them/teach them what you know, make suggestions, recommendations, etc. You can position yourself as someone who is really knowledgeable about your industry. You can be seen as the expert – even if you aren’t really, or don’t consider yourself to be an "expert".

When you are seen as an expert, people want to do business with you.

3. Get JV (Joint Venture) Partners.

When you have a targeted buyers list, many other people, such as other experts, want to be associated with you and do business with you. You get access to people that you otherwise would never be able to get in touch with.

You get to do highly profitable joint ventures with the “big boys and girls.” You no longer have to feel like you're sitting at the kids' table on Thanksgiving Day.

You get to eat your meal at the BIG TABLE! You have a chance to enter the big leagues and make the big money.

When you are seen as an expert, your opportunities for growth, success, profits, life-long friendships and more, become virtually limitless.

4. Save money and make money.

You can save money by doing things like testing your ads on your list before “rolling out” big promotions. You can learn what the market wants by getting suggestions and ideas through surveying your list.

You can get a feel for what works and what doesn’t work without suffering huge losses.

You can do things like start your own affiliate program to gain tremendous profits in a relatively short amount of time. You can really save a good chunk of change and make a whole lot more money.

5. Create true independence.

When you have your own list, you can stand on your own feet in the business world. You don't have to go pleading with anyone else, hoping and praying that they will see you as “worthy” enough to do joint ventures with them.

You will have the opportunity to do joint ventures if you want to, but you won’t have to do joint ventures in order to profit and survive. In other words, you won't be making moves out of desperation.

You can pick and choose which joint ventures are most appropriate - and profitable for your business.

6. Gain a true sense of pride and confidence.

When you build your own list, you feel a great sense of pride and confidence that you can do this and that you are a legitimate business owner and entrepreneur.

Your attitude about your business, and yourself, gets better.

You start to see your business, your “baby”, your creation, grow before your very eyes. You look for more, bigger and better ways to build it further.

You start to do special things!

7. Make Money Automatically.

Ever hear about those "gurus" (Yuck! I hate that word) who make money at the push of a button, by sending out a simple email?

Although it often sounds like a big, fat, lie, it IS possible and DOES happen more often than you might think.

How do they do it? They do it by building a hyper-responsive, targeted list.

It usually doesn't happen overnight, but once you build a great list, it's a matter of being GENUINELY helpful to the people on your list.

That means providing them with information, ideas, products, gifts, resources, encouragement, etc. In other words, it means doing WHATEVER you can to honestly, truly help people.

And that's what they are - PEOPLE!

They are NOT just a list of names to contact when you want to make money. The people on your list are trying to reach some sort of goal. And they're looking to you for help.

Take this VERY SERIOUSLY and treat your people right.

Treating them "right" means SHOWING them (not just telling them) that you care about what matters to them and are truly there to help them reach their goals.

Yes, I can count. I know that this next item will make 8 reasons (instead of 7) to build your list. :-)

But I want to mention this because I don't think enough people think about list-building quite like this . So....

8. Help to enrich and better the lives and businesses of others.

When you build your own list, you have the opportunity to enrich and better the lives of others by providing them the very best services and products you can create or discover.

At least you had better, or you won’t have a substantial list of customers for any length of time.

When you build, service, maintain and grow your own list, you WILL be selling products and services that can enrich the lives (and businesses) of your customers, enhance your own life, help build your community, and strengthen your country’s economy.

This, in turn, can help strengthen the world economy. Because it's all tied together. You see, you have a chance to make your mark on this great, big, world – all because you decided to build your list!

I think this is great but it's easier say than done, not sure about JV partners I can use such an early stage. I have a one page simple website with optin form where it tells you how to set up your first website on www.mybusinessforsuccess.com
